NAD is a proper noun in biology, Chinese name: Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, referred to as Coenzyme I for short. It is a kind of electron transfer, a coenzyme of many dehydrogenases in the body, which connects the tricarboxylic acid cycle and the respiratory chain, and its function is to transfer the hydrogen removed during the metabolic process to the flavoprotein. NADH or more accurately NADH+, H+ is its reduced form. Studies have shown that with the help of sodium ions, the Slc12a8 protein transports NMN directly into the cell and quickly takes effect for the production of NAD. When NAD levels decrease, cells also increase the expression of the Slc12a8 gene, increasing their ability to transport W+NMN. The discovery of the W+NMN transport mechanism is of great significance. W+NMN helps scientists find ways to increase energy supply to senescent cells.
Experimental results show that taking nicotinamide ribose can increase the content of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in the human body by 60%. NAD+ is an indispensable substance for activating acetylase, and it decreases with age.
